The Biology of Homosexuality.

via FOX NEWS

Fascinating Article.

Some Excerpts:

While several studies find homosexuality in humans and other animals is biological rather than learned, a question remains over whether it's a hard-wired phenomenon or one that can be altered.

A new study finds that both drugs and genetic manipulation can turn the homosexual behavior of fruit flies on and off within a matter of hours.

While the genetic finding supports the thinking that homosexuality is hard-wired, the drug finding surprisingly suggests it's not that simple.

In fact, homosexuality in the fruit flies seems to be regulated by how they interpret the scent of another.

If homosexuality can be "turned off" quite a few moral dilemmas will arise. The main one being could and should we vaccinate babies against homosexuality? If such a vaccine was available I would surely use it on my children. Imagine living in a country in which a substantial portion of the population believes their God banishes "your kind" to hell and is intolerant of a lifestyle that chose you in the womb. How terrifying must that be? I sometimes shudder to think what it must be like for a young man or woman who is attracted to the same sex. Imagine having parents and friends that despise gays and a preacher who promises hell fire for them. I am glad I was born straight and wish the same for my child.
