The military chooses Paul and Obama. Now do you support our troops?

LINK

This story cannot be repeated enough.

Excerpt:

Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Ron Paul have little in common politically, except their opposition to the Iraq war.

Both top a new list of presidential candidates receiving campaign contributions from people who work for the four branches of the military and National Guard, according to a study released Thursday by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics.

The article goes on to say that the numbers may not hold, but still a shocker to many I am sure. Military personal are like any other group of people. They have a wide spectrum of opinions. We all would be wise to keep that in mind. If citizens of this country truly had reverence for members of the military they would respect them more as human beings as opposed to molding them to fit into their own political agenda. Thus my point is not: support Obama or Paul or be labeled unpatriotic. My point is treat these people with some damn respect.

They are not pawns on a chessboard waiting for us to manipulate. And both parties are guilty of this illogical thinking. In fact, I disagree with a number of Democrats who seem to believe that all those who continue to favor the occupation of Iraq don't care about our troops. There are still a number of reasons, which I happen to disagree with, to keep troops in Iraq. But I think I can objectively state that at the moment the neoconservative wing of the Republican party is most guilty of using the troops. They would lead us to believe that all military personal collectively agree with every decision the Bush Administration has made/will make regarding Iraq. Moreover, if we dare to disagree or question war strategy, we are shouted down and branded as treasonous swine who fail to support our troops. This incendiary rhetoric is despicable and must be rejected. Not all patriots support all wars. Let's be more tolerant of dissent. Because if we are not we will have nothing left to fight for.
