In support of Dining Populism

I would like to post a rebuttal to Ryan's latest DIATRIBE against the middle class food industry. I want to show my support for the dining habits of the common man. After a long day at the office your typical American worker finds themselves at home feeling dejected and sorrow bound. Sometimes in the course of their busy days they do not get the opportunity to plan their dining arrangements for the night. Thus they are left out to dry. This is when the decision process starts as to where they should go out to eat. This process involves several variables such as quantity, quality and proximity of food. Most people live in the suburbs and thus are limited in their choice of cuisine. For Mallory and I our list is as follows: Laredo's (or similarly cheap Mexican food), On The Border (or similarly cheap Tex-Mex food), Carrabba's, Macaroni Grill, Publix, Subway, Ted's, Outback etc. etc.

Notice that zero of these choices have a high brow menu. There is no foie grois burrito at On the Border. But even if I did have a more luxurious choice, why would I choose it? I would most likely leave hungry. It would be more expensive. And your average American does not want to be made to feel stupid for mispronouncing names of obscure seafood. So in the end all I want is to have some decent quality food for a good price and leave full. And I don't want my waiter/waitress to be condescending. I want them to be on my team, urging me along until I stuffed with umpteen calories.
